Frequently Asked Questions

What specification do the courses follow?

Both courses were produced following the international GCSE specifications which are recognised by education establishments all around the world.

What format do the videos take?

Every video consists of up to 100 detailed Powerpoint slides that provide clear and concise instruction. I have included my own narration over all of the slides, so it’s just like having your own personal teacher sat by your side.

What devices can I watch the videos on?

The videos are in .mp4 format so they can be watched on most devices, such as: PC’s, laptops, tablets, iPad’s etc.

Once downloaded you can put the videos on a device that isn’t connected to the internet, stopping you or your child from being distracted! 🙂

If I watch all of the videos will I have sufficient knowledge to pass GCSE exams in the subjects?

Yes – I have covered everything required by the specification. However, you should really not rely on just one source for your information, especially if you’re going for the higher grades. I always recommend to my students that they have at least one other source of information, such as a relevant textbook. You also need to check out the exam board specifications.

I live in the USA, so I don’t understand all this ‘GCSE’ stuff – what age group are these videos aimed at?

GCSE exams are internationally recognised qualifications and are aimed at students who are between 14 and 16 years of age.

My daughter is home-schooled. If she follows the course, how do I go about getting her entered for the exam?

Home-schooled students often miss out on the practical aspects of science courses. One of the great things about the international GCSE specification is that the assessment of experimental skills is through the examination paper – there is no practical exam or controlled assessment.

All you have to do is approach your local examination centre – which would normally be your closest secondary school – and ask their examinations officer if they can enter your daughter as an external candidate.

My son is studying for his GCSE exams in Science, but he is following a different specification. Are these videos of any use to him?

Absolutely! The basic content is the same no matter what specification is being followed. The facts about photosynthesis are the same wherever you are in the world! I have produced an index for the videos on a pdf document, so it makes it really easy for your son to find the video that is most relevant to his requirements.
